How to play Match Trap

Answer every challenge correctly—but avoid the target's hidden answer. Match it and you fall into the trap.

Play Solo

Take on an AI target immediately. Give a valid answer without matching the hidden trap.

Join Online

Use Quick Play, browse an open public lobby, or enter a private five-character room code.

Host Online

Create a public AI-target room or a private room with an AI or human target, then invite players.

Play In Person

Share one device. Enter the players, choose a target, and let the host run each round.

One round in four steps

  1. 1

    Get ready

A 3–2–1 countdown plays before the first question of the game.

  2. 2

    Read the challenge

The target chooses a valid danger answer. With a human target, players wait until the host locks it in.

  3. 3

    Lock in your answer

Give any valid answer before the 60-second timer ends. Other players may choose the same answer safely.

  4. 4

    Reveal the trap

Match the target and lose a life; avoid the target and survive the round.

Public and private rooms

Public rooms use an AI target and can be joined before the first question. Choose a ready Classic, Quick, or Challenge lobby, each clearly labelled as AI, or let Quick Play find an open room. Private rooms are joined by code and can use either an AI or human target.

Computer-controlled players carry a small AI badge beside their name so you can tell them apart.

Human-target games

After the countdown, only the host sees the question first. Players are told when the host is reviewing it and when the target answer is locked. Once everyone answers, the host reveals the result.

Lose all your lives?

You are eliminated and keep seeing the final question that caught you while the game continues. You can wait for the result or return to the online lobby to find another game. Multiplayer standings label the top-ranked player as the winner; Solo simply shows your result.

Choose your topics

Select at least one topic. The Start Game control stays visible while you browse, so you can begin immediately or keep adding more.

Game sounds

Turn sounds on or off during setup. Match Trap remembers your preference, and no sound control blocks the game screen.
